The Prayer
by Brian Price 8/15/10

The Christian walks into the King's palace. The gaurds stop him. "Let him in," says the King. "I know him by name. He is my son."

The Christian approaches the throne of the King, and kneels down. "Lord, they are destined to die," he prays.

"What wilt thou?" the King responds.

"Lord, I pray that you would send someone to warn them. Open their eyes. Lord save them," he begs.

"They have the Bible. Let them hear it," the Almighty King responds.

The Christian again pleads with sweat dropping from his head, "But God, here is a thing incredible about this Book. Its fame is vast. Everyone knows about it. All have heard of it. Yet, no one reads it. No one listens to it. And all men hate it. Send a sign Lord."

God responds, "These signs shall follow them that believe. In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

With tears, the Christian says, "But Lord, all these signs have been done. No one believes them. Send them a stronger sign."

The King then says, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do. He will raise the dead, he will cleanse the lepers, and give sight to the blind."

"Thank you God. But God, they still don't believe in you. Why? Open their eyes! You have all power. They're going to hell. Father, please save them. Do something!" the Christian pleads.

There's a moment of silence.

The King weeps. "It repenteth me that I have made man," the King says with his head in his hands.

The Christian then says, "God, I wish I myself were accursed from you for their sakes that they might be saved!"

God responds, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Go into the highways and the byways and compel them to come in that my house may be filled. Bring in hither the poor, the maimed, the halt, and the blind. Go ye into the all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."

With tears, the Christian stands up, and says, "Lord it is done as you have commanded, and yet there is room. Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. Nobody is getting saved! Grant repentance. Open their eyes!"

God then says, "I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy."

The Christian bows his head, and accepts the answer. "So be it. But Lord, if they do not believe all of the signs, and the Bible, and the witnesses which we give, how can anyone be saved?"

God replies, "With men, this is impossible. But not with God. For with God, all things are possible."
