The Age Of the Earth
It's Not As Old As You Think
by Brian Price 8/10/09

The earth is not as old as you think. Many, many humanistic philosophers (atheists) will argue that the world is billions of years old. But honestly, how did they come up with that number? The truth is, they made it up because they reject the truth!

The earth is not billions of years old. It's not even millions of years old. And I'll show you why in just a moment. First of all, I'd like to show you what the Bible says about evolution.

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." - Hebrews 11:3
It's only because a person chooses to believe otherwise that we think the world was made by some other means. But that doesn't change the truth. Yeah, let God be true, but every man a liar.

Notice the scripture says things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. That means, when you look at a baby, you know that there is no other way he got there but from 2 parents. Likewise, when you look at the sky and see all the stars, and the moon, and the sun, you know for a fact that Someone created that, and not something. Non-living things do not make other non-living things. You can categorize pretty much everything in this universe under 2 categories. Man-made, and God-made.

Some say, "God didn't make us, we made God." Then in that case, sir, you are calling God a liar.

"Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." - Psalms 100:3
Proof For A Young Earth
Since we can't exactly pick up a rock and see a date like 5,000 B.C. on it, we have to use the process of elimination. Take for instance, the coral reefs.
"Estimated old ages for the earth are frequently based on 'clocks' that today are ticking at very slow rates. For example, coral growth rates were for many years thought to be very slow, implying that some coral reefs must be hundreds of thousands of years old. More accurate measurements of these rates under favorable growth conditions now show us that no known coral formation need be older than 3,500 years." - A.A. Roth, Coral Reef Growth, Origins, Vol. 6, No. 2, 1979, pp. 88-95. -- W.T. Brown, In the Beginning, pg. 14.
Another piece of evidence for a young earth are trees.
"The giant sequoias of California have no known enemies except man. And only recently did man (with his saws) have the ability to easily destroy them. Insects do not bother them, nor even forest fires. They live on, century after century. Yet the sequoias are never older than about 4,000 years. These giant redwoods seem to be the original trees that existed in their timber stands. Sequoia gigantea, in their groves in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, never have any dead trees ('snags') among them. Unless man cuts them down, there is no evidence that they ever die!" - Vance Ferrell, The Evolution Handbook, copyright 2001, pg. 149.

History Says So
The most overlooked piece of evidence is history. All history points to Jesus. Which is why history is sometimes pronounced HIS-story. Because it all points to HIM.

It's been said that archaeology is the Bible's best accompanied piece of evidence. And we have every reason to take heed to the Bible and what is says.

"For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty." - 2 Peter 1:16
Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and we testify that we have seen, and ye receive not our witness (John 3:11)." What these faithful men saw and heard, that was what they preached. That is what they wrote about. Paul said that "...this thing was not done in a corner," (Acts 26:26). You're right, Paul. This thing was done before the whole WORLD! Is it any wonder that Christianity is the only religion that has spread to every nation? And is it any wonder that the Bible is the most widely read book, EVER WRITTEN? It has been read so much, that it has been placed in it's own category!
"We think that the First Dynasty [in Egypt] began not before 3400 and not much later than 3200 B.C... A. Scharff, however, would bring the date down to about 3000 B.C.; and it must be admitted that his arguments are good, and that at any rate it is more probable that the date of the First Dynasty is later than 3400 B.C., rather than earlier." - H.R. Hall, "Egypt: Archaeology," in Encyclopedia Britannica, 1956 edition, Vol. 8, pg. 37.

There's much more evidence of course. I didn't even get to mention the dust on the moon, the burn rate of the sun, the closeness of the moon to the earth 25,000 years ago, nor did I mention the population rate, which all point to creation, not evolution.

Evolution is not a science. It's a philosophy, and a religion.

I'll close with a quote from Steven Colbert (yes, the show host), "If evolution is science, then why do we have to believe in it?"

Friend, one thing evolution can't explain is the future. What happens to YOU when you die. That is something the Bible does explain. Jesus said, "I am the first, and the last," (Revelation 1:17-18). That means, he is the author of your life. He said that those who die without forgiveness die in their sins. Wouldn't you like to be forgiven? Why don't you trust in God to save you? It's better to trust God now, than to die and wish you had.
