"6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife; and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her." - Genesis 26:6-9

Here we read of Isaac, and his attempt to hide the fact that him and Rebekkah were married. Isaac obviously knew that his wife was very beautiful to look at, and because he feared that the men of the city of Gerar would kill him and take Rebekkah, he instead told a lie and said that she was his sister. Isaac's father Abraham also did this same thing in regards to his wife Sarah.

But notice how that such a relationship could not be hid.

Verse 8 says, "And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife."

Many times, when a person tries to hide the fact that he is a Christian, his attempt is often foiled, and its not without good reason. You see, when you live for Jesus, people are going to notice things about you that cue them in on the fact that, yes, he is indeed in a relationship with Jesus.

"For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known." - Luke 12:2
When you belong to Jesus, people will notice. People will see you, as Isaac, sporting, so-to-speak with your Saviour. They will notice that you talk with a dirty mouth like they do. They'll notice that you don't drink alcohol like they do. They'll notice that you don't watch certain things, like they watch. They'll notice that you don't laugh at the same jokes that they laugh at.

The Bible says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17

If you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, then of course you'll fool everyone around you. They'll never think twice that you go to church, or that you believe in God, or that you read the Bible. If you partake in the same things that everyone else partakes in, how are you at all married to Jesus?
