His Rest Shall Be Glorious
By Brian Price 11/1/2013

"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep." - Psalms 127:1-2

Do you sleep well? We read here in Psalms 127 about God giving his beloved rest. We all need rest, and it is a wonderful thing when we can rest well. The Bible says, "When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet," (Prov. 3:24). There is nothing like getting a good night's sleep. God promises to give his people rest from the days of adversity. He said to Moses, "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee REST," (Exodus 33:14). In the book of Matthew, Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST," (Matthew 11:28). When we finally reach our time to die, we can rest assure that God's peace will be glorious. Isaiah 11:10 says, "And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his REST shall be glorious." Before you lay down this evening to sleep, give thanks to God for allowing you to rest in peace. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may REST from their labours; and their works do follow them," (Rev. 14:13). Go to sleep, and rest in his glorious peace dear Christian because your works have not been in vain, and remember that the Sabbath Day (Saturday) is a wonderful day of REST.
