God Can Make You Clean
By Brian Price 6/7/2013

"40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean." - Mark 1:40-41

We read here in Mark chapter 1 about the man who had the disease of leprosy and the compassion Jesus had on him. Notice the Bible says, "And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him..." The Lord is a God of compassion. He certainly understood from this man's plea that he was in a situation of great need. Notice also that Jesus was not timid to touch this man in a manner of compassion. Too often when we are approached by people, we are often repulsed by their state of health. But not Jesus. Although this man was able to spread his disease by coming into contact with other people, Jesus was not afraid to approach him with compassion. Notice that Jesus did not tell the man to not come near him. He did not tell the leprous man that he did not have time for him. But rather, he was "moved with compassion" towards him. Notice also that the leprous man said to Jesus, "If thou wilt, thou canst make me CLEAN." Sin too often will leave us dirty to the point of being banished by society much like leprosy. King David, after he had sinned with Bathsheba, prayed, "WASH me throughly from mine iniquity, and CLEANSE me from my sin," (Psalms 51:2). If you are to be washed from your sin, you must go to the crimson flood whose blood can wash us white as snow. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to CLEANSE us from all unrighteousness," (1 John 1:9).
