Set No Wicked Thing Before Your Eyes
By Brian Price 5/11/2013

"2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. 3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me." - Psalms 101:2-3

When one considers all of the temptation in the world, it can be quite overwhelming. Often times, temptation can follow us from the world, and into the home. It seems as if there is no avoiding it. But when we walk in the Spirit, we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. That is how one can, as David says here, walk within our house with a perfect heart. The key to getting victory over temptation is to not put it before our eyes. Certainly, one can be less tempted to buy a car if he doesn't watch advertisements about cars. But putting wicked things before our eyes leads to putting wicked things in our minds, and putting wicked things in our minds leads to putting wicked things in our hearts, and putting wicked things in our hearts lead to putting wicked things in our hands. Temptation leads to thoughts, and thoughts lead to actions. A good example in the Bible is king David. The Bible says that, "David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon." - 2 Samuel 11:2. Notice his temptation began with his eyes. He put something before his eyes and the rest is history. Let us be resolute, and stand fast by saying with ourselves, "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes"
