"Where Is Your God When Children Suffer?"
By Brian Price 8/15/2012

Question from an atheist: "Where is your god as the children all around the world starve to death?"

Answer:

Your question of "Where is God" when X, Y, and Z are happening, is quite an easy question to answer.

Since God fills heaven and earth, he is right there with those who are suffering. Not only so, but he will make things right that others have caused wrong.

He promises, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." - Revelation 21:4

He says of the poor, "Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh." - Luke 6:20-21

He says again in Isaiah, "When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water." - Isaiah 41:17-18

Perhaps it is all perspective. We see suffering, and we think, "God would not allow this." Or we think, "There is suffering, therefore there is no God." Or we think again, "There is suffering, therefore God must be evil."

But thinking this way is wrong. Instead, the correct thought should be, "There is suffering, therefore if God truly exists and is good, then he must know about it, and will correct this."

God sees and knows all about suffering, and he will properly deal with it. Death for mankind is not the end, but only the beginning of eternity. For many, that eternity is paradise with God. In the end, good triumphs over evil.
